​Regular oil changes can help optimize the performance and fuel economy of your Chevrolet car, truck, or SUV. Many older-model Chevrolet vehicles, including those manufactured without or before the creation of the Oil Life Monitoring System, require oil changes at 3,000-mile intervals. However, thanks to advances in engine technologies, newer models may have a longer range between oil changes. Always refer to your Chevrolet vehicle Owner’s Manual for oil-change intervals for your specific vehicle.

ENGINE OIL LIFE SYSTEM
Most Chevrolet vehicles are equipped with the engine Oil Life System (OLS). This system interprets your vehicle’s speed and engine temperature and continuously monitors operating conditions—which helps determine when it’s time for an oil change.

The OLS monitors a number of conditions including engine revolutions, engine temperature, and miles driven to let you know precisely when to come in for an oil change. As soon as the OLS light comes on, you know it’s time for service. It’s a simple, effective way to help you save money and help reduce oil waste.

CHECKING YOUR OIL LEVEL
It’s a good idea to periodically check your oil level. In order to get an accurate reading, the oil must be warm, at normal operating temperature, and the vehicle must be on level ground. Always consult your Chevrolet vehicle Owner’s Manual for the proper procedure to check your oil level. You’ll get a more accurate dipstick reading by following those instructions.
