![]() What's the most fuel efficient, gasoline-powered car in America? That's right, the Chevrolet Cruze Eco which gets an EPA estimated 42 miles per gallon. What's better than 42 miles per gallon? 64.42 miles per gallon. That's what an Australian couple sponsored by Shell Oil accomplished while driving a Chevy Cruze Eco across 9,552 miles through 48 states. Chevy engineers created the sleek Cruze with new designs that enhanced the efficiency of the modern-day compact. Air shutters meant to reduce aerodynamic drag, a reduced weight, and light-weight, yet still attractive rims all played a major role in the crowning of the most efficient gasoline-powered car.

![]() Even before becoming the star of today’s new wave of modern-day muscle cars, the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro had achieved that status on the big screen by playing “Bumblebee” in the 2007 box-office smash “The Transformers.” Two years later, the Camaro reprised its role in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” and the coupe leveraged that Hollywood helping hand into sales leadership in the U.S. sports car market for the first time in 24 years. Now it looks like the third time will be the charm—and then some: To celebrate the Camaro’s appearance in this year’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” Chevrolet will release an eye-popping 2012 Transformers Special Edition Camaro Coupe that features Bumblee’s aggressive black-and-yellow design scheme. ![]() This is the definitive list to end all 100 Greatest Cars lists. You'll never have to read another list, and this list is absolutely, scientifically, precisely and transcendently correct. That is until we have a few more PBRs. Greatness, for the reason of this list, is defined by a vehicle's direct, significant contribution to American automotive culture. That does not mean that a car had to actually have been sold in America, but that its legend changed how other cars are seen in its shadow. Some of the choices here are actually racecars. So it's a biased list in favor of cars that enthusiasts love, but it also acknowledges those everyday cars that have shaped our lives. ![]() The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition, priced between $38,000-$45,000, will arrive in showrooms this summer. Chevrolet said in a statement on Wednesday that the Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition will be formally introduced at the Camaro5 Fest II on April 15 at the Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. The anniversary of the Camaro calls to mind a simpler era of the postwar freeway boom when the Motor City responded with a series of factory hot rods. It was a time when top versions of Detroit's pony cars — the Ford Mustang GT, Chevy Camaro SS and Pontiac Firebird Trans Am — offered blinding acceleration, sporty looks and single-digit fuel mileage. The anniversary package that pays homage to this era will be offered on Camaro's top two trim levels — 2LT and 2SS — with either the 3.6-liter V6 engine or 6.2-liter V8 engine. ![]() Courtesy Chevrolet Center will be having our annual Service Clinic on Saturday September 10, 2011 between 8:00am and 4:00pm. That kind of passion—combined with the quality and performance offered by today’s Camaro—has kept sales in high gear. In 2010, its first full year on the market, the athletic new Chevy outsold its crosstown rival the Ford Mustang by more than 7,500 units, and attracted 81,299 new Camaro owners. And not only is the car ahead of that pace through the first part of 2011, but it also recently marked a major production milestone when the 5 millionth Camaro was sold to a lucky new driver in Kentucky. The black-on-black 1LS coupe showcased a “dovetail” spoiler, a six-speed manual transmission and a potent 3.6-liter, 312-hp V6, and it was the 225,844th Camaro sold since the fifth generation launched in March 2009. Of course, Chevy is on track to keep the momentum going, thanks an expanding lineup that now includes the Camaro Convertible, which dropped its top in February of 2011, and the high-performance Camaro ZL1. What is the Chevrolet Volt exactly? This video explains how the Volt is different from hybrid, pure electric and gas-powered cars on the road.
![]() General Motors is very optimistic about the Chevrolet Cruze. In assessing whether this optimism is warranted, we can’t help but remember that a major reason for GM’s past troubles has been the lack of a competent small car. For decades, the General has struggled to produce a car that was at least in the same ball park as the industry benchmarks, the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. The Cavalier and Cobalt, as much of an improvement as they were over their predecessors, just didn’t cut it. But have these efforts been in vein? With so many mistakes to learn from, has GM finally crafted a compact car that can truly compete with the Japanese? Let’s find out in our review of the 2011 Chevy Cruze. OnStar has launched a new optional service called Family Link, linking subscribers to their loved ones when driving an OnStar-equipped vehicle. This new service enables users to log onto the Family Link website to view a map with their loved one’s exact location at any time (pictured above). Subscribers can set up email or text message notifications to let them know the location of their loved one’s vehicle. They can choose the day, time and frequency of the alerts. President Obama is announcing tough fuel-economy standards starting in the 2017 model year, requiring automakers to average 54.5 miles a gallon. The standard is sure to force dramatic changes in cars, making them smaller, lighter and loaded with higher-tech engines such as hybrids, diesels or other fuel savers. The standard is so tough that relatively few models would meet it. Because of the way fuel economy is calculated, window sticker labels of estimated fuel economy of individual models will be lower. Those labels will probably show values of about 40 mpg, says Roland Hwang, transportation director for the Natural Resources Defense Council. "Because of the differences between the laboratory certification test cycle and the on-road fuel efficiency, drivers can expect to see the average window fuel economy label to be about 40 mpg, compared to today's average of about 22.5 mpg," Hwang writes. |
