Courtesy Chevrolet in San Diego is proud to announce the arrival of the first two Chevrolet Volt electric cars. The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is powered by electricity without being tethered to electrical outlets. It drives gas-and emissions-free for most commutes. But if life takes you a little further, as it tends to do sometimes, the gas-powered onboard generator can take you wherever you need to go. So you can just sit back and drive. Alyssa Milano Come to Courtesy and see the car that actress Alyssa Milano is getting. "I'm obsessed with everything green," she tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. Milano, who starred in the old sitcom Who's the Boss and on the witch-oriented Charmed, is hoping to start a family and wants to stay green. She says she was affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill over the summer and when she has kids, "I never wanted my kids to see me pumping gas at a gas station." 2011 Chevrolet Equinox Meticulous craftsmanship and upscale styling combined with a flexible interior and class-leading highway fuel economy(5,6) sets Equinox apart from the rest. With 32 MPG highway and a highway driving range of up to 600 miles, Equinox beats Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and even Ford Escape Hybrid. Inside, there's comfort for five and the most rear-seat legroom in its class, along with advanced safety and security features for added peace of mind. Chevrolet Equinox Beats Ford Escape Hybrid Automobilemag.com said, "Impressive [highway] fuel economy and smart packaging give the Equinox the opportunity to become a segment leader." And at 32 MPG, Equinox stands out from the rest by offering highway fuel economy that Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and even a Ford Escape Hybrid can't match. A fuel-saving 6-speed automatic transmission and a 2.4L ECOTEC 4-cylinder engine with direct injection means up to 600 highway miles between fill-ups. The 2.4L engine also features an ECO button that allows you to switch to a fuel-saving mode, which can increase your vehicle's fuel economy when compared to normal operation. General Motors has devised a way to “creatively recycle” oil-soaked plastic boom material from the BP oil spill. The material, salvaged from the Gulf of Mexico, has been re-purposed for auto parts used in the Chevrolet Volt. “Creative recycling is one extension of GM’s overall strategy to reduce its environmental impact,” said Mike Robinson, GM vice president of Environment, Energy and Safety policy. “We reuse and recycle material by-products at our 76 landfill-free facilities every day. This is a good example of using this expertise and applying it to a greater magnitude.” New model gets highest possible ratings in all Insurance Institute safety tests The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze , available now at Courtesy Chevrolet in San Diego, California, received the highest possible ratings of “Good” in front, side, rear and rollover crash protection tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which recognized Cruze as a 2011 Top Safety Pick. USA Today reported that The Transportation Department has proposed new rear visibility rules that would, in effect, require backup cameras in all cars and light trucks by the 2014 models. The estimated cost of the systems -- a video camera at the rear of the vehicle and an interior display -- would add about $200 to the price of a vehicle. The purpose, according to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, "would help drivers see into those blind zones directly behind vehicles to make sure it is safe to back up." As announced by Chevrolet last month, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt is now on it's way to Chevy dealers, including Courtesy Chevrolet. As a part of that announcement, at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, GM North America President Mark Reuss announced that the first Chevrolet Volt available for sale would be auctioned online, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit the Detroit Public Schools Foundation. Detroit Public Schools Foundation is a tax-exempt organization dedicated to supporting Detroit's students by building quality programs to enrich their educational experience and promote student achievement. The future of engineering is vital, and Chevrolet knows the scientific innovations of tomorrow begin in the classrooms of today. Contact Courtesy Chevrolet today to place an order for the new Volt. The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is a car of the future that you can drive today. The critics agree, it's more car than most cars, too. Motor Trend Magazine has given the all-new Volt the distinguished 2011 Car of the Year award. Motor Trend says: "In the 61-year history of the Car of the Year award, there have been few contenders as hyped -- or as controversial -- as the Chevrolet Volt. The Volt started life an Old GM project, then arrived fully formed as a symbol of New GM, carrying all the emotional and political baggage of that profound and painful transition. As a result, a lot of the sound and fury that has surrounded the Volt's launch has tended to obscure a simple truth: This automobile is a game-changer."
